Umair Ahmed hold a Ph.D. in Technological Innovation Engineering from the University of Palermo, Italy (2023), a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia (2017), and a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan (2010).

Throughout his academic journey, He secured multiple scholarships and served as a research and teaching assistant.

In June 2024, he joined Politecnico di Milano as a Research Fellow, where he is currently contributing to the METABRAKE and other projects.

His research interests encompass maintenance digitalization, predictive maintenance, decision-making models, maintenance optimization, human-machine interaction, root cause failure analysis, lean manufacturing, reliability and safety, and zero-error systems.

Additionally, he has over five years of professional experience in manufacturing and service industries, where he held various roles in production, production planning and control, leanm continuous improvement, and project management.
