Gaia Vitrano is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. She has a background in Management Engineering and a specialization in the Master of Science in Industrial Management.In 2024, she received a PhD cum Laude in Management Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. She is the author of papers at an international level, including contributions in Safety Science, Safety and Health at Work, Supply Chain Forum, Frontiers in Public Health, Management Decision, and Sustainable Futures.

Occupational health and safety, Applied ergonomics, and Risk assessment and management are among her primary research fields. Other interest fields are Organizational behavior and workplace well-being, Supplier relationships in supply chain management, and Green and resilient supply chains. In these fields, she co-supervises several master's students and currently oversees four PhD students within the research group.
