TES-NFW - Take EAT Seriously: don't play with food

The project aims to reduce food waste generated by consumers in three Italian metropolitan areas: Milan, Rome and Catania.

The project's lead partner, Fondazione Banco Alimentare ETS, aims to impart knowledge, skills and practical tools to encourage behavioural changes regarding food waste among the final beneficiaries, who will come from three distinct groups: employees of companies partnering with Banco Alimentare; consumers affiliated with ConfConsumatori (a project participant partner); and other consumers reached through involvement activities.

Banco Alimentare will achieve the proposed results through playful activities mediated by a web app developed by Shair.Tech (a project partner), which will monitor the beneficiaries' progress in reducing food waste.

The Food Sustainability Lab at the Politecnico di Milano's School of Management will conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses of food waste at a household level in the three identified urban areas. This will inform Shair.Tech on which aspects and indicators to monitor through the web app. The Food Sustainability Lab will then analyse the data collected during the activities and compare it with the data collected through the quantitative analysis. This will provide evidence of the effectiveness of Banco Alimentare's engagement activities.
