ENGAGE 5.0 - Enhancing Human-Centric Engineering Skills in Learning Factories for Industry 5.0

The ENGAGE 5.0 project, led by a consortium including Politecnico di Milano and four other European universities, aims to place human-centricity at the heart of engineering education – a core principle of Industry 5.0. By using “learning factories”, the project equips future engineers with the skills to design and manage production systems that that are not only digitally advanced but also tailored to people needs.

ENGAGE 5.0 explores the current gaps in engineering skills and develops innovative, blended learning paths that combine human-focused approaches with cutting-edge technologies, including AI, XR, collaborative robots, and wearable devices. The project also establishes a European network of learning factories to share best practices and foster collaboration.

Expected results include:

  • a new competence framework for human-centric manufacturing;
  • flexible, multidisciplinary training programmes for engineers;
  • a sustainable EU-wide network to promote knowledge exchange and educational innovation in Industry 5.0.

Politecnico di Milano, as project coordinator, plays a leading role in all project activities. In particular, it is responsible for project management, impact creation, and the long-term sustainability of the initiative.
