IDT4EU
Immersive Digital Twins (IDTs) represent a new horizon in both industrial and educational sectors, enabling seamless simulation and efficient training in safe and extremely realistic environments. However, the set of skills and expertise required to effectively utilise this disruptive resource for educational purposes is often not available among educators, even in higher-level education. This leads to the urgent need for reskilling educators and providing them with tools and resources to perform effective education and training leveraging IDTs.
The IDT4EU project aims to modernise higher education by integrating IDTs into teaching, addressing digital skills gaps, and enhancing industry-aligned learning. It equips educators with innovative tools, improves student engagement, and establishes a European framework for IDT adoption, supporting Erasmus+ priorities of innovative teaching and interconnected higher education systems.
IDT4EU will implement activities across three Work Packages (WPs). WP1 ensures coordination, risk management. WP2 develops IDT pedagogical frameworks, technical guidelines, pilot courses, and an open resource repository. WP3 trains educators through structured programmes, mentorship, virtual simulations, and certification. Dissemination through webinars, publications, and conferences will ensure broad impact, while continuous evaluation will refine methodologies and support long-term sustainability.
IDT4EU will produce IDT pedagogical frameworks, technical guidelines, pilot courses, and an open-access repository of training materials. It will establish certification for IDT proficiency, mentorship programmes, and virtual training simulations to support educators. Dissemination through conferences, publications, and webinars will promote adoption, while evaluation mechanisms will measure impact and ensure long-term integration of IDTs in European higher education.
The project is coordinated by ECOLE NATIONALE SUPERIEURE D'ARTS ET METIERS. Partners include POLITECHNIKA WARSZAWSKA, POLITECNICO DI MILANO, NEdHo, and INOKUFU. The project is co-financed by the European Union in the context of the ERASMUS+ Program.
