Francesco received the M.Sc. and the Ph.D. degrees in information technology engineering from Politecnico di Milano, GPA 4.0.

He has been a postdoc research assistant at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and collaboratd in leading positions with major industrial companies in the software and digitalisation sectors.

He has been recipient of several awards for his professional activity including the “Ettore Lewis” award, the “Dimitris Chorafas” award, the "Journal of Process Control" award, the "Danieli Ethics" award.

In 2022 he completed the Executive MBA at Università di Udine, GPA 4.0.

He is or has been Associated Editor for Control Engineering Practice and IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology and serves as Vice Chair for IFAC Technical Committee on Mining, Mineral and Metal Processing.
