Teaching
The mission of the DIG is to train people who are not only competent, but also capable of acting responsibly in society.
Contents
The teaching portfolio, to which the Department's Faculty contributes, includes all the disciplines of management, applied economics and industrial engineering for undergraduate and master's degree courses at the Politecnico di Milano.
Particular attention is paid to the role of technology and technological development as well as the multiple relationships between business, economy, environment and society, which form the core of the research activities.
Understanding the economic and managerial implications of the technologies under study improves students' contribution to technological development.
Methods
Consistent with its mission, the Department wants to position itself as a leader in the innovation of learning models, combining technology and management with experiential and one-to-one teaching methods.
Teaching methods and the students' learning experience are constantly updated, in particular through:
- laboratory courses in which students are confronted with real problems, applying the knowledge acquired in a context simulating the work environment;
- use of digital technologies to enhance the learning experience, such as virtual labs to gain experience in business realities and the organisation of international collaborative classes;
- innovative evaluation methods on projects, complex case studies and simulations, including peer review and evaluation.
Innovation Center of Didactics
The Department has established the Centre for Teaching Excellence and Innovation and organises a programme of initiatives aimed at enhancing the teaching skills of its teaching staff:
- organisation of workshops and seminars for the exchange of experience and good practice in the field of education;
- organisation of activities in which teachers work in pairs on course redesign, supporting each other in introducing innovative teaching methodologies;
- participation in training initiatives offered by leading international organisations (such as European Foundation for Management Development - EFMD, Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business - AACSB, Association of MBAs - AMBA, Harvard Business School - HBS);
- adoption of an online Learning Management System or LMS;
- support in identifying connections between the content of different courses and in exploring new teaching methods.
The complete portfolio of training programmes includes courses for undergraduate students at the Politecnico di Milano and postgraduate training at the same university.
Courses
The PhD programme in Management Engineering is part of the School of Industrial and Information Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano .
The training offer is divided into:

For the Master of Science degree, the training offer is delivered in English.
The programme offers numerous opportunities for an international exchange and mobility experience: from the Erasmus programme, to double degrees in collaboration with prestigious foreign universities and special programmes of varying duration, from a few days to annual exchanges.
More than 350 students each year decide to try an experience abroad, and as many students are accepted on exchange, making the campus increasingly international.
The combination of experience and skills provided and the ongoing demand from the labour market for management engineers make this course of study one of the best programmes in the field of economic-managerial education.
Post-graduate and post-experience training
For the needs of businesses, the Department's Faculty contributes to the POLIMI Graduate School of Management's post-graduate and post-experience training available, with courses designed for those who have already embarked on a professional career:
